The netHOST LAN gateway controls fieldbus or real-time Ethernet systems via traditional Ethernet, unlike the cifX Card, as it does not require interfaces such as PCI or PCIe. It is specifically designed for industrial PCs and embedded systems that only have Ethernet connectivity. Once connected to the LAN port, the netHOST operates as an independent, fully functional fieldbus or real-time Ethernet master, supporting both cyclic and acyclic communication services. For Windows systems, a dynamic link library (DLL) is available, while embedded systems can use C source code. Its API is consistent with Hilscher's PC cards, making the netHOST function like a "remotely controllable PC card," significantly simplifying the integration process.
